Italian start-ups are hitting new records and show no signs of stopping anytime soon. A joint report between Unioncamere and the Ministry of Economic Development confirms as much. In the third quarter of 2018 registered Italian start-ups were 9,647, while a year ago there were just 7,866, that means a 22.6% increase.
To these encouraging figures must be added some fundamental employment data that reveals how Italian start-ups can be an important driver of growth for the Italian economy. The workforce employed by these companies has in fact grown more than proportionally compared to the number of companies themselves: to date they employ 52,512 operating and professional members, registering an important + 33.2% compared to the same period of 2017. As for the distribution by business sectors, 71.8% of innovative startups provides services to companies, 18.7% operates in manufacturing, while 4% operates in commerce. In terms of geographical distribution, the regions with the greatest presence of start-ups are Lombardy (with 24.6% of the national total), Lazio (10.7%) and Emilia Romagna (9.5%); among the regions of Southern Italy, should be highlighted the positive performance of both Campania and Sicily.
On the other hand, as far as the Italian start-up budgets are concerned, only incomplete data are available, as the financial statements have not yet been filed, due to recent composition, or are currently unavailable. Nevertheless, the data, which in any case cover 59.5% of the start-ups listed in the Business Register, show that the value of the average production per company in the financial year 2017 amounts to approximately 168,000 euro, a significant increase compared to the previous quarter (24,000 euros more, + 16.7%). The average assets amount to 303,000 euros for innovative startups, an increase of approximately 46,000 euros compared to the previous survey (+ 17.8%). Considering the total production, it amounts to 961,108,649, a figure of 274 million (+ 39.9%) higher than that recorded at the end of the previous quarter.
From its privileged observatory in Viterbo, Lazio, Investorvisa.it offers, thanks to the careful work of its staff, an international showcase to the best start-ups of the whole country. Once an investment has been selected among those proposed in the showcase, Investorvisa.it will offer its experience in the field of immigration to all non-EU entrepreneurs who wish to apply for an investor visa in Italy.
