The Council adopted the following conclusions: "THE COUNCIL: – Taking into account the Commission Communication on preparing the next steps in border management in the European Union (1), the Commission Report of 13 February 2008 on the evaluation and future development of the FRONTEX Agency (2) and the Commission Communication on improved effectiveness, enhanced interoperability and synergies among European databases in the area of Justice and Home Affairs (3); – In view of the report of 11 November 2008 from the European Parliament Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs on the evaluation and future development of the FRONTEX Agency and of the European Border Surveillance System (EUROSUR) and its report of 17 February 2009 on the next steps in border management in the European Union and similar experiences in third countries, WHEREAS: – The abolition of border controls at the European Union's internal borders is one of the greatest successes of...
